Madlenianum Opera and Theatre had five premières and a presentation of a gala operatic New Year’s concert in 2008.
2nd February, 2008 Kosta, dramatic image
The first première of Madlenianum in 2008 was a performance of a famous painter Kosta Bunuševac, which presented in the attractive space of Studio Hall the world seen through the painter’s eye. It connected all known arts and a personal vision of one of our most controversial artists. What is art, at what price can it be sold, how to paint, what is hidden behind an ordinary painting – Kosta Bunuševac answered all these questions, together with two „visitors from the space outside the earth “.
15th March, 2008 Painted in Frost, drama
In the year of an intercultural dialogue with the theatre „Bread and Plays (Hleba i igara)“ from Stara Pazova, there was staged a moving dramatic performance by Miroslav Benka Painted in Frost on the tragic fate of a life-painter. This un-verbal theatre presented all troubles, all sufferings as an image through the vision of the painter’s eye. The performance had its presentation at the International Festival in Tehran.
10th May, 2008 The Lady from Maxim’s, comedy
The comedy of errors, written by Georges Feydeau, the master of comedy, the writer of the cult play A Flea in Her Ear. The Lady from Maxim’s (La dame de chez Maxim) gathered a pleiad of excellent actors, who managed to entertain and make laugh the audience in the manner already a little forgotten on the theatre stages of Belgrade. The title role of doctor Petypon is presently played by Branislav Vidakovi?, while the role of the alluring beauty, The Shrimp, is entrusted to the most famous alluring beauty among actresses, Katarina Radivojevi?. The director is Slavenko Saletovi?.
25th May, 2008 The Diary of Anne Frank, mono-opera
The Diary of Anne Frank, Grigory Fried’s opera, is for the first time performed in Serbia. The destiny of the girl-hero, Anna Frank, known to all, has been transformed into a touching and unforgettable opera. After the musical, now the opera about her life and suffering. Exceptional Suzana Šuvakovi? Savi? („Exhausted, uncombed, without shine in her eyes, but with a shine in her voice “ Gordana Kraja?i?), accompanied by the orchestra of soloists, conducted by Vesna Šouc Tri?kovi?. The director is Staša Koprivica
2nd November 2008 The Bereaved Family, comedy
„It happens always and everywhere, and in our performance the action takes place in autumn in 1934“, wrote the director Jug Radivojevi? before the première of eternal and never-ending The Bereaved Family. New Madlenianum’s production incited roars of laughter, but also brought the picture of our characters at the stage. The team of famous actors, affirmed comic actors, headed by Milutin Mima Karadži?, is the reason that the performances of The Bereaved Family have been sold out months ahead.
27th December 2008 Gala Pucciniano, opera gala
Two great singers. The great conductor, Alberto Veronesi, at the rostrum. Permanent guests of „La Scala“, „Metropolitan“ and „Covent Garden“, soprano Daniela Dessi and tenor Fabio Armiliato, perform at Madlenianum in a feature-length operatic gala evening before the New Year, where they will sing only unforgettable Puccini arias.
