He is a regular guest at the most renowned guitar festivals, such as ”Guitar Foundation of America”,    ”Guitar World Championship”, and so on. Especially significant were his performances at the Royal Theatre (Teatro Real) and at the National Concert Hall in Madrid (Auditorio Nacional de Madrid), then at the royal courts in Seville and the Museum Prado, where he played together with the primadona Teresa Berganza. This concert was broadcasted by the Italian radio-television RAI in more than forty countries. He held concerts all over the world, from the United States of America, all the way to Russia. He performed at the International Academy for Guitar in Paris, at Frankfurt Opera, as well as at the National Concert Hall in Mexico. In Poland, he interpreted “The Concert of Aranjuez” before His Royal Highness Prince Felipe .
He produced records for the world leading music companies, such as Italian RAI, Spanish National Radio, Spanish Television, Radio France and Television of Mexico.
He composed more than twenty pieces for guitar, such as  “Ten pieces for guitar”, “Triptych for Andres Segovia” and so on. Likewise, he is the author of the chamber music for duets, trios, quartets, symphonic orchestra and ballets, and composed a concert for guitar and orchestra.
For the requirements of television and film he recorded music for the films “The Altarpiece of the Wonders” by Cervantes and  “Toledo, Roads of Light” with Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, and  participated in Hollywood productions like “On Love and Shadows” by Isabel Allende.
He recorded several CDs: „Orchestra of the Guitars from Madrid” (soloist), „Bata de cola” (mixture of classic and flamenco sound), his own composition „Triangle of Manrique”, „Vienna Waltzes” by  Johann Strauss in the edition of RTVE, played with the guitar from 1890, etc.

As a promoter of classic and old music, he cooperates with famous multi-national music houses, to mention only the Deutsche Grammophon, for which he made a selection of compositions in interpretation of Narciso Yepes. José Luis Martínez has his own discographic company, Plectrum, which has already produced CDs of some of the most prestigious guitar authors and interpreters.
In January 2005 he took part in the recording and production of the latest CD of José María Gallardo del Rey, and just recently  he recorded José Nieto’s “Three pieces for guitar”, in the production of Antena 3.
